wish; to feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable; want something that cannot or probably will not happen. So with this being said, if i could wish for one thing right now, it would to be rich beyond belief, so that i could buy anything and everything and still be richer than anyone, pay off the united states debt and still be richer than anyone, now those wouldn’t be the reasons why, the reason i would want to be rich is to live in a nice normal house with all my close friends by a lake or any body of water in the middle of now where, not a neighbor in site just peace, quiet, my friends, and my dog. Waking up everyday with no worries on my mind, never worrying about bills, or responsibility. Hang around every day and just enjoy the day, not having to worry about a job or anything really, if I ever got bored id have the money to pay for anything my friends and i would desire, whether it be a trip to anywhere imaginable for any time imaginable, or it be just moving to the city for a different lifestyle. The main reason the money would be nice would be because it would give me freedom to do mostly anything anyone could imagine.
the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Blog 2 due: What makes a good speech? (Consider text as well as delivery.) Also, watch the video of your own first speech and discuss how well you performed. What did you do well and what do you need to work on more for next time? 450-550 words.
A good speech consists of not only proper delivery with strong diction so the listeners can understand you, adequate projection so all of the listeners can hear you, confident body language so the listeners are more engaged with a confident speaker, and proper emphasis on words so the speech isn't monotone and keeps the listener from being bored; but the context, it should have convicting detail that keeps listeners engaged and to think deeper about the point you are getting across gets your point across. In some cases turning it on a lighter side would be good to capture the listeners attention in a way. In my speech something i did well was projection and diction, i feel that it was easy to understand and hear what i was saying for the size of the room and crowd. The things that i need to focus on and work on would be to learn my speech, by reading it over in my head a aloud so when i take my eyes off the speech to engage the audience i am able to know where i am when i get back to my speech, which leads me into the next area that needs improvement, which would be engaging the audience, through eye contact which needed work by potentially engaging each audience member for a few seconds but in a sense is hard with a small audience because of the sense of intimacy with a small room and minimal audience, but the is definitely room for improvement. third thing that needs to be improved is the tone and emphasis used, which primarily was monotone, I would need to emphasize words periodically to keep the speech from sounding boring. I would also would have liked to have a longer speech with a more engaging format within it so the audience would be drawn in to a sort of story, not so much someone listing off events; which was somewhat done throughout. The final thing I observed was that there is improvement to be made towards my body language by being more comfortable and engaged with the audience whether that be through keeping my body still or keeping my hands by my side. with the improvement of these things it would be greatly beneficial to my speaking to crowds of people.

Just over ten years ago was the first time I had ever skated, It was a Friday night open skate at the local rink after my friends birthday party,
i had never worn a pair of skates before, i sat down and my mom tied my skates for me. I remember my friends skating laps around me, and despite not being good, there was something about it that hooked me.
a few short weeks after I began learn to skate and soon enough after I was playing on an organized team.
I just couldn't get enough, it was all I wanted to do, when winter would come around I couldn't wait for ponds to freeze so i could go out and play until it was too dark.
I had no idea it would spark into something that influences the majority of the decisions made in my life,
whether that be what time I wake up, what I eat for a meal, or what it is I watch on tv...
eventually it progressed to the point I am at right now with being with my team everyday of the week and living with them at school.
Everyday that goes by I am grateful for the past ten years of travel, friends, and experiences I have gained and would would not have asked for a different way of spending the past years of my life.

Who are you & why are you taking this class? Introduce yourself, & tell 3 things about yourself (include 3 photos, 1 for each item). Then explain why you're here & set 3 specific course goals for yourself. 450-550 words.
I am Nathan Altman if I am answering the question literally, and answering in a figurative sense I would say I am just an everyday person who enjoys life and my friends and also a hockey player. The reason I am taking this class is because it not only sounded fun when I was choosing my courses but it was something I knew I was going into not knowing what to expect. So i am from Scituate Rhode Island and I've been playing hockey since I was seven years old, the first time I had skated I was at a good friends birthday party and from that day on I loved it, I don't think I could pinpoint what it was that hooked me at the time, but looking back at it at this point in my life I believe it is that I wanted to get better because with almost everything I do in my life I want to be good at it no matter how small or irrelevant it be. Three things about myself, well, one would be that I love hockey and have had the same love for it ever since I first started and I hope to have the same passion towards it for the rest of my life.

The second thing about me would be that I have a four year old yellow lab named Beau and that when I'm away from home he is the thing I miss the most, and that when i'm home I try to be with him as much as possible.
And the third thing would be that my favorite thing to do in the summer is go to the beach with all my friends and just sit there until the sun goes down.
The reason I came here is to play hockey and to improve my grades by repeating my junior year, because my first three years of high school my grades were far from impressive, and improving my grades was one of my goals coming into cheshire, and though they have improved dramatically there is still room for improvement. The second goal was to become a better hockey player as the year progressed which I believe has happened, which is also something that has room for improvement. The final Goal of mine which I try to carry in my life with everything I take part in is to learn something every opportunity, whether it be something to give me an academic advantage such as a studying strategy, it be a piece of advice that I can carry with me for the rest of my life, or it be something I lean on the ice from a coach or and experience that happened.
